Sapori di Bice, City Walk, Dubai

This week I’m taking you on a mini trip to Italy …and if you have been to Sapori di Bice in Dubai, then you will know I am not exaggerating one bit! I stumbled upon Sapori di Bice by chance, as my girlfriends made a last minute plan to meet up there for breakfast. The minute I stepped inside I just knew I had to come back again for my cake spy section … Sapori di Bice has such a positive vibe about it, and is one of those rare places where whether you go alone, with friends, or even kids, you will feel very much at home. They have an all-day dining menu and the portions served are generous enough to be shared! So if you’re feeling the pinch a bit, then don’t worry as Sapori di Bice will be your perfect choice to enjoy good quality food at a very reasonable price, in a very warm and friendly-setting. The interior at Sapori di Bice has been done to perfection, with every little minute detail taken in to account to remind you of Italy. I’ll let the slideshow do all the talking as far as that’s concerned.

Whether you’re in to savouries, sweets, or even just one of those healthy fruit and veg kind, there is a section for everyone. Everything at Sapori di Bice looks so fresh and welcoming and is prepared by a full Italian culinary team. Starting with the savouries, there is a very good selection of freshly made bread served with different kinds of sauce. One basket of bread would be more than enough for 2 people to share, and costs just 20 Dirhams. Kids will particularly enjoy the pizza section, as they do get to be involved in the making-process and choose their own character shapes and toppings. Heading over to desserts, there is a large selection of cakes, muffins, and mini appetisers. My choice for the day was ‘Italian Cheesecake’ and I just had to try their ‘Grandmother Cookies’ filled with raspberry jam. Both were an absolute delight to have. In fact I will head back there on my day off with a book in tow just to have those ‘Grandmother Cookies’ again with a cup of coffee while soaking up the sun (until the good weather lasts!). I spent approximately AED 80 for the 3 items ordered. Now that is a very reasonable price considering the portions that were served.

With the weekend coming up, Sapori di Bice would be our ‘pick of the week’ for you to enjoy. It is the perfect place to unwind after a long week. So make the most of this amazing weather and enjoy some good quality food with people who matter most to you. Thank you to the entire staff at Sapori di Bice for making our visit a special one! Will definitely be back again soon!

Strawberry Muffins – Never looked so forward to breakfast before!

Standard

Today we thought we should try out a breakfast item.. so the first thing that came to mind was muffins. And now that you all know I have a bit of a red obsession going on so decided to make it Strawberry Muffins! 🙂

If you have never baked before, then this would be the perfect choice to get started for the following reasons:

1. It is such a simple recipe: all you need is the ingredients (duh!), two bowls, and a whisk.
2. Muffins are not meant to be pretty, so the last thing you need to worry about is how they would look.
3. Oh the aroma! The recipe has cinnamon in it and we all know the wonderful aroma that gives! The neighbours wont complain either! But they will expect a batch though so make some extra!:)

Trust me, you cannot go wrong with this simple recipe! So do give it a try, and look forward to breakfast tomorrow .. 🙂 Click Here to view the recipe ..

It’s time to go ‘Whoop Whoop!’

Standard

Whenever I tend to bake, I like to get inspiration from somewhere. Yesterday I was having a chat with my niece (who is luckily not a Bieber fan!) just to see what’s trending in the world of teenagers these days when it comes to baking! Turns out Whoopie Pie is quite happening! Was glad to hear that as it’s a recipe I have never tried before … until today that is! Let me warn you though, I am a bit obsessed with red these days and wasn’t going to spare the Whoopie Pie either! So here they are … don’t forget to give me your feedback! 🙂 Click Here to view the recipe …

And our ‘Baking Stars’ for this week are …..

Standard

Congrats to Elisabeth Knap, Faisal Rauf, and Christine Selboe for being chosen as The Bake-a-logue’s ‘Baking Stars’ for this week … Here is a little more about them and what they baked …

Chocolate Cupcake with Chocolate-Orange Frosting by Christine Selboe:

Christine Selboe is a Communication Adviser from Norway! Being a huge fan of Handball, Christine baked this delicious cupcake with Ivano Balic in mind!  The cupcake with chocolate-orange frosting was baked using ‘Kefir Milk’ (buttermilk) which Christine tells us is her key to making great cupcakes. Thank you for sharing this with us Christine! We are pleased to hear you will be in Dubai soon and would love to meet up to hear more about the ‘cupcake phase’ you went through ….

Walnut Whip Cake baked by Faisal Rauf:

Faisal Rauf is a young Brit who loves to play rugby, climb mountains, AND bake!! And looking at that fabulous Walnut Whip Cake we have no doubt you can definitely bake Faisal! We were intrigued to hear what was inside that cake and were told it’s chocolate sponge, layered with vanilla cream and covered with chocolate ganache and walnuts! Talk about being on a chocolate high afterwards!  .. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Faisal! Full marks for creativity!!

Sticky Chocolate Cake with Raspberries by Elisabeth Knap:

Our next ‘Baking Star’ for today is Elisabeth Knap, also from Norway! If the name sounds familiar then that’s probably because she is always the first one to answer to any of our competitions … and gets them right too!  Elisabeth made this divine-looking sticky chocolate cake with raspberries which she served with whipped cream! When we asked her if there was any pic with the cream, the answer was obvious … ‘the cake finished so fast there was hardly any time to take another pic!’ Thank you for sharing the cake crumbs with us Elisabeth Knap! Wonderful neat work!
