Who wants to stay indoors when the weather is this awesome in Dubai! So I thought why not have today’s tutorial out in a garden? Well, almost anyway … I’ve created a ‘garden theme’ for today’s cake tutorial where the main focus will be on 3 things .. rolling out fondant on a cake, fondant butterflies, and fondant flowers! So grab your sun screen and shades, and lets head out to the Bake-a-logue garden 🙂 …. Click Here to view the tutorial
I was talking to my sister yesterday, and she was telling me about salted caramel cupcakes and how amazing they are! I was a bit apprehensive about baking them at first coz I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan of caramel. The irony is I was thinking all this while actually sipping some Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino. I didn’t even have to think twice after that and gave it a go … so the the recipe for today is going to be Salted Caramel Chocolate Cupcakes! I’ve actually frosted them exactly the way I like my Caramel Frappe! :). So are you going to have yours with or without cream? (the popular question we’re all asked at Starbucks). A big thank you to our ‘Baking Stars’ of this week – Raisa Hasan, Ridhima Yata and Linda Stegane. It has been an interesting one as this week we received 3 different kinds of entries … Lets have a look at what was baking in each one’s kitchen …
Chicken Cases by Raisa Hasan:
Meet our ‘Baking Star’ for today – Raisa Hasan for baking these mouth-watering savouries called Chicken Cases … this looks like a divine tea-time snack and we absolutely love the presentation as well! Thank you so much for sharing this with us .. Am sure I’m not the only one who wants one now ..
KitKat Cake by Ridhima Yata:
Our next ‘Baking Star’ is Ridhima Yata .. I got a call from Ridhima a few days ago to ask what she should bake for her friends b’day .. when I suggested KitKat Cake her first response was “no way! I can never pull that one off” .. but luckily I convinced her to go for it .. and just have a look at what an awesome job she has done! Moral of the story? Never underestimate yourself .. if I can do it then I guarantee so can you! Am super duper proud of you Ridhima .. feels quite rewarding when one of the Bakealogue recipes is put to the test and succeeds! 😀
Barbie Cake by Linda Stegane:
And we have another one from Norway .. Meet Linda Stegane, our final ‘Baking Star’ for this week. Linda made this gorgeous-looking Barbie Cake for her friends birthday! That cake must have taken a good few hours Linda, but it’s all so worth it as it’s simply WOW! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. 🙂
And with that, we wrap up this weeks ‘Baking Stars’. If you would like to be a part of this, then all you have to do is email a pic of what you have baked alongwith your name to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like the recipe for any of the above then do let me know. I’m sure our ‘Baking Stars’ would be more than happy to share it.
Have a great weekend!
Got any plans for the evening? Our cupcakes are off to attend a Black Tie event tonight, and they are very appropriately dressed for it too! :)) But before we get to that, just wanted to take a minute to thank each and everyone of you for sending me such positive feedback about the ‘Tutorial’ section. I couldn’t stop beaming much to my husbands horror :). However, that was yesterday and am back today with a brand new tutorial .. so now you have not 1 but 2 things to practice, practice, practice, and impress all over the weekend! Click Here to view the tutorial …
Now that we’ve known eachother a little while and learnt all the basic baking skills, thought the time was right to move on to the next level … fondant decorating! This is something I thoroughly enjoy doing .. yes, it can be quite time-consuming but it really gives you the chance to be creative. So today i’ll be launching a brand new section on The Bake-a-logue by the name of ‘Tutorials’. And to kick off the first session I’ve chosen to do rose cupcakes. Think it might be worth reminding here that I’m not a professional baker and so the end-product may not always be ‘perfect’ but hopefully ‘inspiring’ 🙂 … Click Here to view the first tutorial

Whenever it comes to working on The Bake-a-logue, I always prefer a nice cosy cafe with a quiet corner, where I can plan out the blogs weekly activities . Well today, not only did I find the perfect cafe, but one that was full of inspiration as well. I’m referring to Book Munch – the first literary cafe in Dubai located on Wasl Square.
