Birthdays are meant to be special ….

It’s no secret I love birthdays as it means a chance to bake and be creative! Here’s what I did for a friends birthday whose two most favourite things in the world are reading books and drinking chai! Put the two together and what do you get? Ta-daa … a book box full of goodies to enjoy with a cup of chai! Goodies include mini chocolate cupcakes and savoury biscuits 🙂 … Can’t wait to see her reaction to this … Happy Birthday Ridhima!

My favourite Cafe ‘Book Munch’ is celebrating its 2nd birthday this week .. so I thought why not bake them cupcakes to mark the occasion! Book-themed cupcakes seemed like the most appropriate choice as that’s what Book Munch is all about …

It’s Blondie’s time!

Today was supposed to be ‘Cake Spy’ day at The Bake-a-logue, but due to road closures for the Dubai Tour 2014 (cycling event), decided to postpone that until next week and bake something instead …. So the recipe for today is going to be Blondies! If you are a fan of chocolate chips and enjoy the caramel taste, then this recipe is definitely for you! I usually like to put in a bit of an effort when it comes to baking, so when the recipe is as simple as this one, then I just have to do something different with the presentation. As most of you already know, there’s a hidden Brit in me that tends to make an appearance every now and then, and today is one of those days … so allow me to present to you, the first Wonder of my kitchen ….  the Stonehenge! 😀 Is that creative enough for you? 🙂

Apple & Raspberry Bread

It’s that time of the day when you’re back at your desk after a lovely lunch hour, and all you want to do is snooze and wish the clock-hand would start to move faster! Well don’t worry as The Bake-a-logue has come to your rescue to help kill time with another new recipe … Apple & Raspberry Bread! This would make a healthy breakfast item (anything that has fruit in it is considered ‘healthy’ by me :D) and can be made in variations. I chose to divide the batter into cupcake cases as well as the loaf pan just to add to the options. Think it would make a great cake as well! Tempted to try it out yet? Strawberry Cheesecake … say cheeeeese! :)

My brother-in-law is definitely going to be happy to see this one as he is a big fan of strawberry cheesecake! And we hope so are you as it is a straight-forward recipe with very little fuss! Once you get your basic cheesecake mixture right, you can always add different fillings on top to add some variation. So do give it a go and don’t forget to send us pics at thebakealogue@gmail.com. Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting!

We have been receiving a lot of requests for Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese frosting so here it is! Had tonnes of fun making the carrots using marzipan for the cake topping. Always a good idea to add the chopped walnuts and almonds on top as it balances out the sweetness of the frosting and the cake! It’s a simple recipe to follow that should easily make it just in time for tea today! 🙂
